you wont find anything around docklands
we rent off a granny flat and we're from the inner suburbs and it cost 600 month
you wont find anything in the city area, not even a room

i've searched for you rentals in the inner suburbs
the most convienient one i found for you is the one on the first page that says fitzroy=&ag=&t=ren&snf=rbs&chk=0&lead=&ty=&tb=MIDDLE+PARK%2C+ALBERT+PARK%2C+BRIGHTON%2C+BRIGHTON+EAST%2C+BRUNSWICK%2C+BRUNSWICK+EAST%2C+BRUNSWICK+WEST%2C+BULLEEN%2C+CAMBERWELL%2C+CARLTON%2C+CARLTON+NORTH%2C+CLIFTON+HILL%2C+COLLINGWOOD%2C+EAGLEMONT%2C+EAST+MELBOURNE%2C+FAIRFIELD%2C+FITZROY%2C+FITZROY+NORTH%2C+HAWTHORN%2C+HAWTHORN+EAST%2C+IVANHOE%2C+IVANHOE+EAST%2C+KEW%2C+KEW+EAST%2C+NORTH+MELBOURNE%2C+NORTHCOTE%2C+PORT+MELBOURNE%2C+RICHMOND%2C+SOUTH+MELBOURNE%2C+ST+KILDA%2C+ST+KILDA+EAST%2C+ST+KILDA+WEST%2C+TOORAK%2C+WINDSOR%2C+&u=WINDSOR&is=1&pm=&px=150&pme=any&pxe=150&minbed=&maxbed=&cat=&p=10&o=def

At $150 a week, you are somewhat limited and you won't find anything at Docklands at that price. Docklands, however, is well served by public transport as it is a major terminus for trams and trains. This means you can live a little further out where rents are lower.

You really have two options. Furnished short term accommodations are usually called "holiday flats". You don't need a lease and usually not a bond but the weekly rent is higher than an ordinary flat. Your second option is to share with someone. Share accommodation is advertised in The Age (and probably the Herald Sun but The Age is the main one). That gets snapped up quickly so you won't find anything now but it would be worth a look on a Saturday in the classified advertisements to see what is available and the sort of prices being asked. You could also check out holiday apartments in The Age too.

By the way, May/June is the start of winter in Australia and Melbourne can get cold.
