My bathroom faucet is leaking – plumber says I need to replace the entire faucet?
The bathroom faucet is leaking (badly now), and he took a look at it and says I will need to replace the entire faucet. to the point where the pipes reach the shut off switches (at the bottom of the sink).
I have called the faucet manufacturer for the warranty and they are sending me new parts saying that I do not need to replace the entire faucet.
Anyone have any suggestions? Please help!

één van beiden of is o.k.….de loodgieter houdt van de gehele tapkraan te vervangen omdat zij meer geld (arbeid en delen)…. makensoms dragen zij geen delen om het te herstellen omdat er zo vele verschillende soorten tapkranen zijn, maar hij kan een nieuwe tapkraan met hem dragen….u kan een nieuwe tapkraan voor 15 of 20 dollars kopen….de loodgieterstapkraan gaat kosten a lot more ….. maar als zij delen toen verzenden zal de tapkraan zo goed nieuw werken, zal zal het werk zelf proberen en doen
The plumber is right…he’ll tell u to replace it because he didn’t have the part. The Manufacturer have the part and u will need the plumber to put it in. See how that works. lol U should of get the manufacturer first because it’s still under WARRANTY. Than the plumber…..it’s cheaper that way.

The faucet is either a ceramic disc or an older rubber valve type. Ceramic disc faucets rarely leak but when they do they take a bit of work to fix. The older types are pretty simple, unscrew and remove the faucet handles, replace the black rubber (neoprene) rings, screw back in, tighten everything.

If I knew how old your plumbing is I could make an educated guess.
Model and mfgr of faucet would be helpful.
If the faucet is over 10 years old your plumber was probably correct.
If your plumbing is over 18 years old the plumber should inspect all the plumbing as I’d bet there are more problems waiting to appear.
How do you know what is bad on the faucet and needs replaced?
While parts may be available, getting the old ones out and the new ones in may be difficult with no guarantee of sucess. Most plumbers have been through this enough times to know it is usually more cost effective to just replace the entire faucet.
