When there was some leaking, it must have mildew/mold there. Find the source & maybe have to replace in that area. Let the fan move the air and it will dry out an moisture that remains. Mix about one quarter cup of bleach with four cups of water and spray on the walls behind and beside the walls. This should kill any mildew that might be forming that you cant see.If this doesn't do the job you might have to remove the Sheetrock but I don't this this will be necessary.
