How much would you pay to replace 8 kitchen cabinets if you do it yourself?

replace kitchen

I got 8 cabinets in the kitchen that are very old and some of the doors are missing. The cabinets aint bad but I’d like to get new ones. The house aint worth much (about $65k) so I don’t want to spend 10 large on them. Whats the cheapest you can put them in for?

  1. Assuming it’s a small kitchen since the house value is lower, you should be able to get good ones for no more than 5K… or if you try IKEA I bet you could do it for closer to 1K.

  2. Depends on the size of the cabinets.
    Measure your existing cabinets.
Base cabinets are the ones on the floor.
Measure the width, height, and depth for each.
Make a sketch showing where each one goes. now measure the upper cabinets the same way, make another sketch.
Take this to you local home center, and have them price unfinished cabinets as close to your sizes as available.
You can either stain & seal the new cabinets or prime and paint them prior to installing.
This is the least expensive way to do it.
Also measure your countertop and price it also. They can have a new laminate countertop made to fit your base cabinets, and can even have the sink hole cut out to fit your sink.
A couple of pictures of cabinets you now have would also help them.
    Good luck

  3. If you have a Menard’s around your area I’d check there. Even better would be to check a cabinet wholesale company if theres one nearby because many times those places will stock a company like Lowes or Menards. Overall, you should be able to get it done for under $1k
