If you have a solid door you may choose an alternative type of stop. Most hardware stores will have the type that sits in the hinge of the door with an adjustable rubber stop. However, I wouldn’t recommend this for a hollow door.
Ok, I would go to the Hardware store and get one that sits on the floor. All you do, is screw in two screws, after you situate it to where you want the door to “stop” and that will be it.
I would NOT get one that goes behind the door, and is up in the air, because kids have a tendency to “hang” on things like this.
I would just get some filler and fill in the hole and paint it what ever color the bathroom is, and be done with it.
The one I am talking about is a half-moon, and it will stop the door in its track and not have the handle hit the wall..(another thing kids love to do, slam it into the wall and make that “moon” indent, and you have to fix it too:)
I wish you well..
