How do I replace the diverter valve in my Moen kitchen faucet?
My Kitchen faucet sprayer has not worked correctly since I installed it 6 months ago. Moen says the diverter valve needs replacing. They sent it to me but how do I open it up and replace it?
It is a single handle with a built in small filtered water spout under the main outlet.

Your question sounds like it was *you* who installed the kitchen faucet sprayer?!? Did you replace a like one-handle control faucet assembly that did NOT have a side sprayer hose feature? And you hooked up the new faucet assembly *with* a side sprayer hose connection (how did you bring the hose up through the sink flange to make it usable topside?!?) And the new faucet controls (hot & cold) worked O.K., but the side sprayer never did work. And you got a new diverter valve from the manufacturer to replace the defective one? Surely you must have known where the diverter valve was located in the piping system of the new faucet assembly when you hooked up the side spray hose. I suspect you’ll have to completely disassemble the faucet assembly (be sure to turn off the block valves in the hot and cold water suppply inlet lines) and pull it out from under the sink to replace the diverter valve. Good luck!
not a simple task really should hire plumber. might just be debis in line going out to sprayer. Turn off both h/c angle stops under sink. turn faucet on to check. no water. remove handle its an allen screw. unscrew dome cap/top, pull up off spout assembly. when assembly removed switch divertor reinstall all. with help u can turn on water very slowly with divertor out to clean out any debris in lines careful to low wont get heavy stuff out to high shoots water everywhere.
I agree with the other person who siad it is not a simple task and should be left to a plumber. MOEN valves are a pain in *@$ to work on. I realize that the faucet isn’t that old, but do yourself a favor, ripe it off the sink, throw it out, and install a Delta. Trust me, doing this will save you money and lot of agravation in the long run. Delta’s last longer, parts are cheap and can be found anywhere, and they are so simple to work on.
